In contrast with cramped, dingy dorms, our Baltimore apartments combine the best of campus life and off campus housing to create the ideal living space for JHU, Loyola, Mica, MSU, and UB students. Living off campus promotes responsibility and independence as well as the development of essential skills  — such as budgeting, paying bills, cleaning, and cooking — for college and beyond. As an added benefit, our apartments are conveniently located across the street from the Johns Hopkins University main campus and just minutes from the city’s hottest restaurants, shops, entertainment spots, and recreational activities.

Living in off campus apartments and being responsible for yourself can be empowering. Being responsible for others, however, can result in a headache for everyone involved. That’s why The Academy offers individual housing contracts. With individual housing contracts, residents are responsible only for their monthly installment payments — they will not be held accountable if a roommate fails to make monthly payments or moves out of the apartment before their housing contract ends.

Experience next-level student living and enjoy the wide assortment of resort-style community amenities dispersed throughout our community. Our residents have access to a state-of-the-art fitness center with high-tech cardio equipment and free weights; rooftop terrace with scenic views of the Baltimore skyline; private and group study lounges with high-speed Internet access; game room with pool and shuffleboard; surface and garage parking; indoor bike room; and business center with 24/7 cloud printing; among other perks.

At The Academy, we strive to provide Blue Jays with the best in JHU student living. Our monthly installment payments are all-inclusive, meaning the cost of utilities is included with monthly payments! Installment payments also include access to our community amenities, which are conveniently located throughout the property.

We’ve streamlined the process of making monthly installment payments. For ultimate convenience, residents can pay online through our easy-to-use resident portal or drop off their payments at our leasing office. We also give residents the option to set up automatic payments, so submitting installments on time is a breeze.

Our housing contracts span 12 months, starting in August and ending in July. Individual housing contracts align with the Johns Hopkins University academic calendar, so it’s easy for students to move in before classes begin in the fall. Contact us for more information about our individual housing contracts.

Yes. All of our residents must have guarantors for their housing contracts to ensure that all financial obligations are met. Potential guarantors must meet minimum income and credit requirements and sign the guarantor addendum to each contract. If an applicant is unable to provide a qualified guarantor, we require that applicants submit a deferred rent payment to reserve their spot in our off campus housing community. Contact our office to learn more about our guarantor requirements at The Academy.

Some JHU students might already have roommates in mind when moving into our JHU Homewood apartments. Whether you’re new to the school or Baltimore, we’ve got you covered. We understand how important it is to have roommates that get along and help residents evolve throughout their college careers. At The Academy, we offer roommate-matching services for each floor plan with multiple bedrooms. During the application process, students fill out a comprehensive questionnaire that asks about their lifestyle preferences, habits, hobbies, and any other relevant information. Once we receive the completed forms, we then pair residents based on common questionnaire results.
