After Max graduated from college, his love for pie and coffee turned into a plan to open a small shop. That's how Pie Time was born. Max is known for his progressive recipes prepared using classic techniques. They're made using fresh, local fruit, and taste like those Grandma used to make. Choices include honey peach, old fashioned apple, and blueberry lemon zest.
Family owned, the Black Rock Orchard spans 92 acres in Lineboro. It features dozens of fruit varieties and grows the heirloom tomatoes in greenhouses to extend the growing season. The orchard's friendly staff answers questions and can help you find the perfect fruit for your recipes. In addition to the tomatoes, the selection may also include plums, apricots, blueberries, and much more.
At the South Mountain Creamery, the motto is "Fresh From Our House to Your Farm." The creamery is a dairy farm that bottles its own milk and makes yogurt and ice cream. It has grown to become the largest delivery business in the area and supports nearly 200 local, sustainable farms. Randy and Karen Sowers started farming in 1981 on 100 acres. Today, they own 2,200 acres where the cows spend their days grazing in the pasture. The varied selection includes eggs, Parmesan cheese, and mocha chip ice cream.
