The Best Places to Run Near Johns Hopkins University

Are you looking for some scenic places to lace up your running shoes? With spring weather in full force, now is the time to start scouting out the best local trails.

Luckily, there are a variety of beautiful areas close to our apartments near Johns Hopkins University.

Here are four destinations you don't want to miss!

Torrey C. Brown Trail

Following an abandoned railroad corridor, the Torrey C. Brown Trail is a twenty-mile unpaved path that runs from New Freedom, Pennsylvania to Cockeysville, Maryland to the north of Baltimore. Runners see railroad relics such as the position light signals and white whistle posts, as well as the 1898 Monkton Train Station.

Centennial Park

Spanning 337-acres, Centennial Park has won awards for its natural design and sensitivity to nature. It features a 2.6-mile trail that circles the lake, along with a 7.3-mile interconnecting paved pathway that links to surrounding neighborhoods. They make for a serene run, and along the way, you may spot beavers, herons, white-tailed deer, and other wildlife.

Patapsco Valley State Park

Naturally recognized for its trails and scenery, the Patapsco Valley State Park spans over 16,000 acres. There are more than 200 miles of trails, some of which are technical. Patapsco was officially celebrated as Maryland's first state park in 2006, and it comes complete with towering trees, wooden bridges, and stunning waterfalls.

MA and PA Heritage Trail

The MA and PA Heritage Trail is found along the path of the old MA and PA Railroad. The Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad chugged through Harford County in the early 1900s, heralding industrial progress. For a scenic run, explore the southern section. It meanders through old strands of trees, past streams, and over bridges. The greenspace provides a protected natural environment, and a boardwalk is found between Heavenly Waters Park and Edgeley Grove Farm.

Running is just one of the outdoor activities that you can enjoy if you call our apartments in Baltimore home. Please contact us to arrange a showing where you can see all our vibrant community has to offer.
