The Best Free Yoga Classes in Baltimore
Baltimore has so much community spirit that's it's hard to keep up with all the good things local residents do for each other, such as offering free yoga classes. While most of the outdoor classes are limited to the warmer months, there are also some year-round programs. Plus, you get to see some of the most interesting venues the city has to offer. Here are a few of our favorite indoor and outdoor free yoga classes.
If you're willing to get out of bed early on Saturday morning, you can take advantage of the Conservancy's hospitality. They host a free yoga class at 8:30 am. Depending on the weather, it's usually in the park squares of Mount Vernon Place from May to September, and moves indoors the rest of the year. The first venue was the ballroom of the historic Belvedere Hotel where everyone from Mark Twain to Marilyn Monroe has stayed. You might know it best from a Mad Men episode when Don Draper and Salvatore Romano slept there. More recently, the class has moved to 10 E Mount Vernon Place in a building that is a fine example of Norman Gothic architecture.
This nonprofit offers several free yoga classes in Baltimore and nearby Annapolis. If you're a late sleeper, you can still make their Saturday class currently at 11:30 am at Asana Roots. You can also admire the studio's second floor space in the Chesapeake, a landmark building near Baltimore Penn Station with high ceilings, brick walls, and local art on view.
Weather permitting, these classes run from May to September outside at Baltimore's famous Inner Harbor. You can watch the water and the boats in the marina while you practice. In addition to yoga, there's a full schedule of all kinds of exercise classes and educational programs, mostly on evenings and weekends. Free registration opens soon for 2018.
